TIMERGARA: A man was killed when two rival groups exchanged firing at Gulo Tangi area in the jurisdiction of Munda police station here on Tuesday, residents and police said.

They said that two groups were quarrelling with each other that led to firing after an exchange of harsh words. The deceased Shaukat was mediating in the matter and fell prey to the firing.

The police registered a case on the report of victim’s father and had arrested two suspects Misri Khan and his brother Syed Karim.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old Christian woman hailing from Balambat on Tuesday embraced Islam. She chose Aisha Bibi as her new name.

Talking to mediapersons at the Timergara district bar, Aisha Bibi said that she was embracing Islam of her own free will.

Also in the day, Lower Dir deputy commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai imposed section 144 on construction, exchange and purchase of state land in Samar Bagh subdivision.
