KARACHI: The Karachi Race Club (KRC) will commemorate creation of the country by organising The Independence Day Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The Independence Day Cup which is a regular feature for decades, is a combined top scale order I, II, III and IV race to be contested over five furlongs and tops a healthy five-race card that has been drawn for the day.

The Independence Day Cup, which is the fourth race of the programme, has a field of eight horses.

Altogether, 41 horses will battle it out for honours in the day’s races barring last-minute withdrawal(s).

Unknown pedigree horse Maradona has arrived from Lahore and will make his debut in the second race.

The first race gets into action at 2.30pm.
