KARACHI, July 29: The All-Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) on Friday criticized the harassment of minority community candidates in the local bodies elections and urged the Election Commission to ensure safety of candidates otherwise the party would consider boycotting the polls.

Talking to newsmen, the APMA Sindh secretary general and a former MPA, Micheal Javed said that the government was using all its resources and official machinery to force the minority community candidates to withdraw from the contest.

He said that the government was flouting the code of conduct announced by the election commission for the polls which if not checked would severely affect the credibility of the government in the international community.

He said if the situation did not improve, no minority community member would be able to contest the polls.
