RAWALPINDI: The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr Chang Tung, said here today [Aug 16] that the Chinese government and people would continue to make “untiring efforts” for further strengthening friendly relations and co-operation between the two countries. Speaking at a reception given in his honour at the Press Club by the Pak-China Friendship Association, Mr Chang Tung said that Sino-Pakistan friendship was deeply founded and nobody could undermine it.

He said that facts had proved that the development of Sino-Pakistan friendship was in full accord with the fundamental interests of “our two peoples and it was also in the interest of Asian and African peoples’ solidarity against imperialism”. But, he said, ther’e were a handful of people in the world who disliked the people of China and Pakistan standing shoulder to shoulder and are “hostile to Sino-Pak friendship”. They are trying by all means to estrange and undermine our friendship, but they will never succeed in their scheme as long as we are on guard, he added. Mr Chang Tung said: “I have the hope and conviction that under the protection and painstaking nursing by us jointly, brighter and still more beautiful flowers will come into bloom in the nursery garden of Sino-Pakistan friendship and bear still more abundant fruit.”…
