HYDERABAD, July 28: Following withdrawal of candidature by an Awam Dost Panel nominee for the seat of nazim of the Piaro Lund Union Council, Tando Allahyar, Zeeshan Mastoi, Mohammad Qasim Lund of the Magsi Ittehad has won the seat.

Thursday was the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers in districts where the local body election is to be held on Aug 18.

Speaking at a news conference in Tando Allahyar, a candidate of the Magsi Ittehad for the seat of district nazim, Dr Rahila Gul Magsi, claimed that three candidates of the Ittehad for posts of union council nazims had also been unofficially declared elected unopposed. They are: Faizul Haq Qaimkhani, Tando Allahyar Union Council-4, Aftab Khokhar, Bukera Sharif Union Council, and Qasim Lund, Pyaro Lund Union Council.

She further claimed that besides Zeeshan Mastoi, many other candidates for seats of councillors of various union councillors had joined the Magsi Ittehad.

Ittehad leader Dr Irfan Gul Magsi has set up a camp in Tando Allahyar to run the election campaign of his sister, Dr Rahila Magsi.

Meanwhile, 117 candidates in three talukas and 19 union councils of the newly-created Matiari district filed their nominations by the last date (July 27).

Candidates of the ADP for seats of nazims and naib nazims have filed nomination papers for 18 union councils.
