HYDERABAD, Jan 14: The haris of goth Mohammad Ali Khoso and Ramzan Khoso, Deh Naeen Baran, Tappo Tando Hafiz Shah, Thatta district have expressed grave concern over the allotment of their lands to some other persons and appealed to President Gen Pervez Musharraf and other authorities to restore justice to the poor haris.

Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad Press Club here on Monday, they said that their ancestors had been cultivating the land in the above villages since long time and now they themselves were cultivating the same lands.

They said they had “Harap certificates” in writing and they had been regularly paying government taxes, including Ushr and water charges.

They claimed that under the land grant policy of the present government, they had the first right over the lands.

They, however, said that the Board of Revenue had chalked out a programme to transfer their lands to some other party, which would be a gross injustice to the haris.

They appealed to President Gen Pervez Musharraf, the Sindh governor, the senior member of Board of Revenue, Sindh, and the Zila Nazim to allot the said land to them in accordance with the land grant policy of the government.

They said that if justice was not restored, they will be compelled to come out on the roads.
