QUETTA, July 28: Poland wants to enhance its cooperation with Pakistan in the filed of alternative energy technology and development of small and medium enterprises and industries in Balochistan. This was stated by Ireneusz Makles, Consul General of Poland, while speaking at a “Roundtable conference on Poland and Pakistan economic relations with reference to Balochistan” held here on Thursday. The conference was arranged by the Balochistan Economic Forum and was also addressed by Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Vice-President Ghulam Sabir and BEF President Sardar Shaukat Aziz Popalzai.

The Polish envoy said both the countries were enjoying cordial relations and extending cooperation in various fields. “Poland desires to further strengthen economic ties with Pakistan,” Mr Makles added. But he said that potentials of both the countries were not fully utilized in achieving the desired results.

Pakistan perceives Poland as a bridge to the European Union and Eastern Europe, while Poland considers Pakistan as a very important partner in South Asia having an access to the markets of Afghanistan and Central Asian republics, the Polish envoy observes.

He said that Poland was also interested in extending cooperation to Balochistan in the fields of chemical, engineering, food processing, oil and exploration, mineral-based projects, pharmaceuticals and textile. The consul general invited Pakistani businessmen to visit Poland. Earlier, the BEF president said that Balochistan had great potential for investment in the mineral sector.
