THE federal government has announced an increase in petroleum prices for the month of August. The new price of petrol and diesel per litre will be Rs117.83 and Rs132.47 respectively.
The new price of kerosene oil will be Rs103.84 while light diesel will be sold at Rs90.52 per litre. The people are at their wits end because of inflation, rising unemployment and lack of economic opportunities.
I would like to remind the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government of their election promises that they would strive to provide relief to the people by reducing prices and providing employment opportunities.
The latest increase in petroleum prices defies logic as rates in the global market remain unchanged. Raised POL rates will only fuel further inflation. I request the government to rescind the latest petrol price increase.
