QUETTA: Chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that opposition parties will no more allow a “fake” regime to rule the country just in the name of accountability.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, Maulana Fazl said that the accountability started by the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf) government was political victimisation of opposition parties.

After his three-day stay in Quetta, the JUI-F chief will launch a ‘million march’ on Sunday.

In reply to a question, he said political vandalism could not be justified as accountability because what was happening in the country would increase political chaos.

“The people of Pakistan have lost trust in accountability,” he added.

“We do not accept a selected prime minister and government anymore. The JUI-F needs nothing but the supremacy of democracy and the Constitution,” he added.

He said the government, which was imposed in the country by stealing the mandate of the people on July 25 last year, had no right to rule.

Talking about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visit to the United States, the JUI-F chief said the way had been paved for once again giving Pakistan into American hands.

Maulana Fazl said the opposition parties had been trying to replace Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani with another politician from Balochistan, but some political forces had been playing nationalist and local card on this issue.

“I’m confident the PPP and PML-N will support us till the end,” he said, adding that he didn’t think Mr Sanjrani had done anything for the people of Balochistan.

In reply to a question about the government’s claim about participation of madressah students in the July 25 ‘million march’ in Peshawar, the JUI-F chief said that TV anchorpersons reported false information in this regard.

“Are seminary students not Pakistanis or do they not have a right to protest and vote?”

The Maulana said the Quetta ‘million march’ would be the last nail in the government’s coffin.

“We are expecting participation of more than 1.5 million people in the march,” he added.

Provincial JUI-F chief Maulana Abdul Wasay, former deputy chairman of the Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Akram Durrani, MPA Younis Aziz Zehri and other senior leaders of the party were present at the news conference.
