QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has claimed that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has assured him that he will try to find a solution to the issue of no-trust motion against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.

Speaking at a press conference soon after his arrival from Islamabad on Wednesday evening, Mr Alyani said he met Maulana Fazl and held talks with him on the no-trust motion.

“I requested Maulana Fazlur Rehman to let Mr Sanjrani remain the Senate chairman for his remaining tenure of one and a half years,” he said. In reply to a question, Mr Alyani said Leader of the House in the Senate Shibli Faraz had accompanied him during the meeting with Maulana Fazl.

The chief minister said that replacing Sadiq Sanjrani with Hasil Bizenjo would not benefit Balochistan and expressed the hope that the opposition would withdraw its no-trust motion.

He said the coalition partners at the Centre were making all-out efforts to save Mr Sanjrani’s chairmanship. He said the issue should be settled in a democratic way. Mr Alyani said Pakistan and the United States would enter a new era of relations with the successful visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Washington.

He said Mr Khan had successfully presented Pakistan’s point of view on Afghanistan and Kashmir in his talks with US President Donald Trump.

He said Pakistan’s civil and military leaderships had dispelled the perception that Islamabad did not want peace in Afghanistan. He said the big achievement of PM’s visit was Mr Trump’s offer of mediation on the Kashmir issue. “It is a big success of Pakistan as the Kashmir issue received attention of the entire world.”

In reply to a question about the Reko Diq issue, the chief minister said the emotional decision taken by the previous government had resulted in a fine of $6 billion.
