GUJRAT: Hafizabad police claimed to have resolved the mystery behind the murder of a retired female teacher who had been burnt to death in Kot Hassan Khan locality of Kassoki village in June last.

A 35 years old woman from the neighbourhood turned out to be the assassin who had killed the woman in her lust for cash and gold. A spokesman for the Hafizabad police said that Amdad Bibi had been living alone since long after separation from her husband. As she was found burnt at her house, police suspected some mysterious hand behind the incident and started investigation.

The DPO constituted a six members team to probe the matter and after hectic efforts the police caught Tahmeena Rani, a resident of the same locality, who had been a regular visitor to the deceased woman.

Rani first injured her with serious blows and then put her on fire after pouring kerosene oil on her clothes.

The spokesman said that the suspect told the police that she did so in lust to have cash and gold jewellery owned by the deceased lady. She had locked the house while fleeing from the scene as the locals took the incident as an accidental death.

Gujranwala Regional Police Officer Tariq Abbas Qureshi has announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the police team that had resolved the mysterious murder.
