KARACHI: An elderly man was stabbed to death in Niazi Colony within the remit of the Sachal police station on Monday morning, police said.

They said that Ali Jan, 70, was asleep outside his house in a slum area when an unknown suspect killed him. He was found dead by his son when he went to wake him up for Fajr.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

Area SHO Qalandar Bux said that the victim had some dispute with his community members.

The suspect, identified as Gul Khan, was pressurising him for holding a jirga to settle the dispute, but the victim was avoiding it. On Sunday night, the same suspect met with him and warned him of dire consequences if he did not settle the dispute through the jirga.
