NAWABSHAH: Sindh relief commissioner has imposed emergency in the dehs where over 50 villages and standing crops of sugar cane, cotton and vegetables on thousands of acres suffered serious damage after Main Rohri Canal developed a 120-foot wide breach near Yousuf Dahri regulator in Shaheed Benazirabad and Naushahro Feroze districts a day before.
Shamsuddin Soomro, the relief commissioner, declared emergency through a notification issued on Sunday in deh Dall comprising talukas and district of Naushahro Feroze and deh Manharo consisting of taluka Qazi Ahmed in Shaheed Benazirabad district
The large breach was plugged after 20 hours of hectic efforts while affected villagers in the inundated settlements were still waiting for relief and rehabilitation.
Shaheed Benazirabad commissioner and deputy commissioner of Naushahro Feroze who supervised work on plugging of the breach told journalists on Monday that food and other essential items were being provided to those affected by the breach.
