MANSEHRA: The health department is going to establish a basic health unit in Babusar Top area and upgrade the Naran BHU to a rural health centre to provide better healthcare and emergency services to visitors to Kaghan valley in the summer season.

“Though our BHU in Naran is sufficient to cater to the needs of residents, we are upgrading it to the RHC to handle huge influx of tourists in the summer season,” director general of health department Dr Arshad Khan told reporters in Naran on Thursday.

District health officer Dr Shahzad Ali Khan also accompanied Dr Arshad.

The DG (health) said he visited the area on the directives of the health minister to assess health facilities for residents and visitors.

“We are going to begin work on the construction of BHU in Babusar Top. This health facility will become operational in the summer season to provide healthcare and emergency services to residents and tourists,” he said.

Dr Arshad said he would order an inquiry into the alleged use of substandard construction material in the Naran BHU building as it was damaged before its handing over to the department.

WOMAN DIES: A woman died after seeing the body of her young son, who was killed by a landslide, in Shahdugh area of Torghar district on Thursday.

Zar Hussain Shah, 30, was hit a massive landslide as he repaired water pipes in the area.

The funeral prayers of both were offered one after the other where locals showed up in a large number.

Also, a car fell into a ravine in Chirakot area of Torghar district killing driver Hazrat Mohammad.

BOY ASSAULTED: The Mansehra police arrested a man for sexually assaulting a minor boy in Baffa area here on Thursday.

A news release issued by the police department said Mohammad Imran had been on the run since he assaulted the five-year-old boy.

The medical examination of the boy confirmed assault.

Meanwhile, additional deputy commissioner Arshad Mansoor directed the government employees and officers of the devolved departments to ensure their presence in offices.

Addressing a meeting, Mr Mansoor said the people came to government offices for the resolution of their issues but most of them returned disappointed due to the absence of officials.

He warned that the absentee officials would be dealt with strictly.
