MANSEHRA: Twelve members of a family were killed and another four sustained critical injuries when their vehicle fell into the Indus River in the Kamila area of Upper Kohistan on Thursday night.

The ill-fated family was taking a patient from Suo to Dasu when the driver while negotiating a sharp curve lost control over the steering wheel. As a result, the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into the river.

According to the police, the vehicle hit the ground before rolling into the river.

Personnel of the police and Frontier Constabulary and area people rushed to the scene and took part in the rescue operation. The bodies and the injured were taken to the civil hospital in Dasu.
