KARACHI: Two relatives — a teenage boy and a young man — drowned in the sea off Hawkesbay, said the Mauripur police and Edhi Foundation officials on Thursday.

They added that around 60-70 relatives belonging to the old city area of Eidgah had gone for a picnic at Manjhar Goth where strong waves took away Kamran, 14, and Moiz Yunus, 24.

The Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that their divers were trying to recover the bodies, but till evening, the attempts were unsuccessful.

Mauripur SHO Zahid Husain said that though there was a ban on swimming, yet it was not possible for them to implement it due to shortage of manpower.
