RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Child Protection Bureau on Wednesday held a walk from Liaquat Bagh to Rawalpindi Press Club to create awareness of children rights and their protection from physical torture.

Punjab Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Chairperson Sara Ahmed led the walk which was participated by Deputy Commissioner Ali Randhawa and other senior officials of the district administration.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Chairperson Sara Ahmed said the Punjab government had launched the campaign to protect the rights of the children and stop physical torture on them.

She called upon the people to inform the bureau about any incident of child abuse and said a special helpline had been created in this regard.

She said the increasing trend of child labour and torture forced the bureau to hold a walk to create awareness children rights.

She said that it was the responsibility of the society and the government to join hands for the protection of the young generation.

She said the government wanted to bring all the children to the schools.

She said the bureau provided shelter to the children who ran away from their houses or got separated from their families during travelling or for any other reasons.
