LAHORE: Three employees including two coaches of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the suspension from their jobs last month.

The petitioners are Malik Khurram Shahzad Awan, admin officer of Islamabad Region, and two coaches — Sabih Azhar (Rawalpindi Region) and Taimur Azam (Islamabad). They were suspended from their respective posts on June 21.

In their petitions they have contended that they were neither served with any show-cause notice regarding any reservation with their performance nor were they given any opportunity to put forward their case before the PCB, as each of them were abruptly served with employment termination letters.

The petitioners have further argued that they were given no reason and have broken none of the clauses present in the terms and conditions of the agreement. The sudden termination from the jobs is meritless as no reason for the termination is provided in the letters, they added.

They prayed to the court to issue a declaration in favour of the petitioners saying that their services starting from June 6, 2007 have been regularised on the same terms and conditions of a government employee and that they are permanent employees of the PCB.

They also contended that during their different assignments with both Islamabad and Rawalpindi regions earned many successes and topped in a number of domestic cricket tournaments.

The federation of Pakistan through prime minister, secretary of the Ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination, PCB chairman and senior general manager human resources and administration PCB are respondents in the case.
