LAHORE: A team of the Cabinet Division, Islamabad, on Thursday recovered an official car from the Jati Umra residence of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The team visited the residence along with police and the assistant commissioner and recovered the Mercedes car which was in ‘unauthorised use’ of the Sharif family, said a police official.

He said the cabinet division team was in Lahore for the purpose for the last three days. The visiting officials met the home secretary and informed him about the purpose of their visit.

The home secretary directed the area assistant commissioner and the senior police officers to accompany the team for the recovery of the vehicle.

The team contacted the Sharif family representatives in Jati Umra and informed them that the car was provided to Nawaz Sharif when he was serving as prime minister and it was designated for official use only.

After a discussion, the team was allowed to take possession the car.
