TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra Additional District and Sessions Judge Hafiz Husnain Azhar Shah on Tuesday awarded death sentence and Rs200,000 fine to a 16-year-old boy who had killed his nine-year-old cousin over jealousy as he thought the latter was getting all the love of his adoptive parents.

According to the prosecution, in a first information report (FIR) registered with Nawan Lahore police on April 21, 2018, complainant Sajid Abbas of Chak 337/JB said he had no son so he adopted his sister’s son, Abdul Rehman, who was given all the love by him and his wife until their biological son, Muhammad Atif, was born in 2009. The FIR said the birth of Atif divided their love between their adopted son and the real son; however, Rehman felt that he was being ignored by Sajid and his wife. This feeling intensified with the passage of time and Rehman decided to remove Atif from his way to get all the love of his adoptive parents.

The FIR said Rehman had taken Atif to the crop fields when he had returned from school and strangled him there and left his body in the crops. The prosecution said that during the probe, Rehman had confessed to killing his minor cousin to get all the love of his maternal uncle and aunt.
