HARIPUR: The district administration here on Tuesday sealed a water processing plant and seized a big quantity of ready to market bottled water and bottles resizing plant.

According to additional deputy commissioner Baidullah Shah, an unregistered small industry being run with the brand name of Orash was processing and marketing potable water in bottles in Ali Khan village.

During the raid, the machinery, 5,000 litres of bottled water and the plant used for resizing of bottles were seized. The action was taken following public complaints.

Mr Shah said that the owners were having no licence from the relevant department and the water was being processed in an unhygienic way. He said that the plant was sealed and water samples sent for laboratory test.

BLACK WARRANTS: A murder convict would be hanged after 21 years of his offence in Haripur Central Prison on Wednesday (today), jail sources said here on Tuesday.

They said that the home department issued the convict’s black warrants four days ago and the jail administration had fixed Wednesday (today) for his execution.

According to the prosecution record, Chanzeb of Chiraghkhel, Peshawar, had committed rape and murder of his minor sister-in-law on February 10, 1996 and he was sentenced to life term by the sessions court, Peshawar, on May 19, 1998.

The convict later moved the Federal Shariat Court challenging his conviction, but the FSC decided his appeal, converting his life term into death penalty on Jan 31, 2006. After losing his appeals at the higher judiciary’s forums the convict filed a clemency petition with the President of Pakistan, which was also turned down.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Sheikh Farid of Jogi Mohra village was killed when a speeding car hit his motorcycle near Khyber Adda on Kot Najibullah Road here on Tuesday.
