Emir of Qatar to visit Pakistan on June 23

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will visit Pakistan on June 23, it was announced via Prime Minister Imran Khan's official Instagram account.

According to the post on Sunday night, Qatar has announced an investment worth $22 billion in various sectors of Pakistan.

This is the second major investment to come to Pakistan this year; earlier in February, Saudi Arabia had agreed to invest $21 billion in Pakistan in a three-phase investment plan.

In October last year, Prime Minister Imran invited invited Qatari investment in all sectors of Pakistan's economy, especially in agriculture, livestock, and energy.

He had expressed these views while talking to Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, deputy prime minister and minister for foreign affairs of the State of Qatar, who had called on him in Islamabad.

In January this year, Prime Minister Imran visited Qatar and besides meetings with the Qatari leadership, the prime minister also met the business and investment community of Qatar.

Before this visit, former finance minister Asad Umar and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had already paid separate visits to Doha.

Investing means they take away the ownership of steal, coal plant etc.. and may start new businesses. They are looking for your workforce. Ultimately investor will win this match. They don't loot like China, but earn more by using your workforce and employment will increase in Pakistan.

may be pakistan is selling land in secret. so UAE is going to cultivate crops and livestock from pakistan and can be exported back to the UAE with out any taxes other wise who would invest 22 Billion USD in these sectors?

@Ash Man , You need to learn the difference between Investment and a Loan. Investment does not happen overnight - especially at this scale - it requires feasibility studies, analysis, budgets, allocations, appropriations and rate of return considerations along with risk management. It does not have to be a direct cash given to some to do as they like with it. It is managed by donor primarily and controls the cash flow. A loan is a cash advance give to the recipient to pay down other debts or expenses and comes with terms of repayment and interest rate attached, with certain guarantees. Two are mutually exclusive. An investment does not always have a fixed rate of return nor a fixed period for investment to be returned - as negotiated in such cases.

@Ash Man , Because of timing. These investments will bear fruit in 5 to 10 years but PPP and PML left nothing in the coffers but left huge debts, hence tax and price hikes to arrest the rot and down slide.

Qatar for all its prosperity has a $180 billion GDP and forex reserves worth $25 billion. And I don't think it would invest almost the entirety of its reserves in a sinking ship. Pakistani leaders need to first analyse why the tens of billions invested in it by China hasn't prevented it from going under.

Great News for Pakistan, H.E. Emir of Qatar should be given maximum protocol by people of Pakistan and Pakistan Govt. He is a great ally of Pakistan and H.E. should visit many towns in Pakistan. Time has come when Pakistan should get more closer to the Arab Nation. Qatar Airways which is promoting Pakistan should be given more incentives to land in maximum airports in Pakistan
