IT is time we as a nation rightly understood Imran Khan’s message as prime minister and acted rightly as a nation after the ordeals that we have gone through in the last 50 years.

It is time not only to say ‘no’ to corruption. We must stop buying imported food stuff, luxury items, including fashion wear and toiletries, furniture, tiles, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, etc. These measures will automatically reduce imports and a substantial amount of foreign exchange requirement.

It will also increase the productivity of our local industry. The local industry should, of course, has to come up to quality standards to serve the consumer market satisfactorily.

Austerity and conscientious usage of water, petrol, gas and electricity only offset the inflationary impact of the 2019-2020 budget on a household.

We should not expect only the government to make efforts. We should appreciate Imran Khan’s mission to eliminate corruption and turn around the economy.

This can be accelerated if the nation also participates — the educated have to educate the uneducated around them.

Once the corrupt mafia, incompetent elements and violators of law are eliminated, the economic figures will fall into the required digits automatically.
