Published July 22, 2005

KARACHI, July 21: The Chinese Consulate here on Thursday celebrated the 600th anniversary of Admiral Zheng He’s visit to the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Consul-General Sun Chun Ye said Zheng was one of the earliest maritime expeditors in history and his voyages had a historic impact on the development of maritime navigation and established a solid foundation for the future generation of seafarers.

He said Zheng He’s triumphs, which marked a milestone in the development of human civilization, belonged not just to China but also to the entire world.
