'It was a reaction': Ministry responds to Sami Ibrahim's allegations against Fawad Chaudhry

The Ministry of Science and Technology on Saturday issued a response to allegations that federal minister Fawad Chaudhry slapped journalist Sami Ibrahim and said that the "incident" should not be treated as a "clash between two institutions but as a conflict between two individuals".
Ibrahim had reportedly filed a complaint at Mansoorabad police station in Faisalabad, accusing Chaudhry of slapping him at a wedding. A copy of the reported complaint, that is circulating on social media and was retweeted by Ibrahim, alleged that Chaudhry had slapped and cursed the journalist without any provocation. It also accused the Science and Technology minister of threatening Ibrahim.
The statement issued by the ministry today said that Chaudhry had "reacted after another person tried to wound his self-esteem". The response does not state the nature of the minister's reaction.
"To term a patriotic Pakistani and government office holder as an agent of [enemy agencies] is contrary to moral and journalistic ethics," the statement said.
"Along with protesting against [Chaudhry's] actions, [people must] also ask Sami Ibrahim why he trampled over a patriotic Pakistani's self esteem," it added.
The rift between Chaudhry and Ibrahim came to light earlier this month, when the minister unleashed a Twitter tirade against the journalist for accusing him of plotting against the ruling party. Ibrahim responded to Chaudhry's remarks in a television programme on Bol TV and accused him of using state vehicles for personal purposes during his tenure as information minister.

It’s fun watching these two at each other — Sami Abraham (note: this is how he has his name on his American passport) is an American but does non-stop blabbing to portray him as someone whose interests lie in Pakistan! Fawad maybe a patriot Pakistani but that does not excuse his behavior. A problem with self-esteem already exists if slapping is an answer to comments. He should apologize or resign.
One can not go around slapping people because they do not like the comments or alleged wrong doings. He holds public office and the public has right to question him. If he is unfairly being accused then he can file a complain with the appropriate authorities.
Politicians have a high moral accountability for good behavior.

Well, this is what I mean to depoliticize the police force so it protects law and order instead of rich and powerful plus award those police officers and Jawans who do the right thing and stand their ground on the side of the law.
Fawad Ch has no right to touch an individual and since he holds a public office, it is even more imperative on him to avoid any physical contact or threaten someone physically. Here since the journalist didn’t do anything physical to Fawad, so Fawad should be arrested and prosecuted/punished by the courts.
Fawad actions are due to Feudalism and Feudal mindset and that is why I keep saying in order to move forward Pak needs to eliminate the 3 isms from the country i.e. Feudalism, Mullahism and VIPism and establish the supremacy of the law by bringing everyone under the purview of the law plus carry out severe punishments if anyone dare breaks the a law and in this case Fawad Ch broke a law.

This is no justification - so others who kill others as a reaction is also justified? Educated people use verbal arguments to express their views or differ with others. Mr. Chaudhry's history places him in Lota's club of Pakistani politicians. This latest incident also places him in the distinguished club of politicians who use force to impose their opinions. Unfortunately, PTI has others too who have done similar things in the past. Ms. Ashiq Awan is a good example (she slapped a returning officer) and now she is a Minister. Imran Khan has to get rid of these opportunists as early as possible.

Before Pti came to power, Sami has been taking a clear Pro-Pti stance. Now he has found a clash with one of its key ministers.
May be someone within Pti is interested in removing Fawad. In the moon sighting controvercy, religious circles within Pti did hold a grudge against him.
Pressure groups in Pti are getting desperate to grab power. Pathan group(Tareen & co) is on top, Arai'n(ch sarwar), Jatt(ch pervez elahi) & others.
Its not really serious right now, but it is sure to intensify with the passage of time.

I actually liked it and saw it as a positive. Going back 2 or 3 decades, minister wouldn't slap someone whom they did not like, but would have police or some other forces to teach the person such a lesson that not only that unlucky person but his generations would feel the burnt. At least Fawad Chaudhary acted like a commoner and did not use his authority to get even with Sami Ibrahim. Isn't it a positive change.

@Dr. Salaria, Aamir Ahmad, Those who saw TV episode wherein anchor Sami Ibrahim obviously malign the Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry and hinting about his so-called obsession to be a replacement of PM Imran Khan if set aside due to some pressures from those who matters, in that program Sami Ibrahim also spells out name of Shah Mehmood Qureshi as alternate candidate for that highest slot. Naturally both the Federal Ministers denied any such desire, the whole story was a phenomenal whimsical wish to weaken the PTI, just similiar a baked story against DG NAB earlier by vested interests. Later there were reports that PM IK spoke to Fawad about such nonsense in media.
Fawad Chaudhry was badly hurt @ heart, and that lead to such bad incident.
Fawad Chaudhry should have refuted the false story instead taking law in hand,
the repo of FC now bad, and this may end his ministry. However if he urgently apologizes to Sami ,things can be forgotten & forgiven.

Being a parliamentarian and a cabinet member the minister should have adopted legal course instead of being judge of his own cause. No doubt, such irrational statements and conduct of a minister would eventually hurt the public standing of the incumbent government. The common man least expectations would be of sober and decent attitude on behalf of proponents of "Change".

Fawad Chaudhry is a Federal Minister and under no circumstances is authorized to slap an anchor person, no matter whatever may be the reason.
PM Imran Khan is also Chairman of PTI and people of Pakistan would like to see what action PM will take against Fawad Chaudhry.
If Fawad Chaudhry is short tempered person he should resign immediately and sit at home.
It seems that all PTI leaders and members are short tempered starting from Imran Khan and going down to an ordinary worker of PTI.

Every body will agree with me that Sami Ibraheen is not an angle, will he try to explain the incidence what happened and who started this. Near to me it is the result out of frustration which have been created by untouchables against the people of disliking including the state. Any way if a slap was delivered then one have the right to know why before giving any verdict. what happened before slapping. It is a fact Sami is not an angle but at this time he was at the wrong place with a strong person.
