PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party has condemned the arrest of Faryal Talpur, sister of PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, by the National Accountability Bureau.

Participants of a meeting of the party’s provincial cabinet with provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan in the chair on Friday asked the government to release Ms Talpur and Asif Zardari for lack of evidence in fake accounts cases filed against them.

According to a statement, Senator Khan Zada Khan, parliamentary leader in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Sher Azam Wazir, Arif Hussain Toori, provincial office-bearers and leaders of different sister organisations attended the meeting. The participants urged the National Assembly speaker to issue production orders of Mr Zardari as it was his constitutional right.

On the occasion, Humayun Khan said his party had already rejected the federal budget due to additional taxes and asked the government to reduce the prices of daily use commodities.

He also criticised the government for delaying the election in tribal districts and alleged that the delay was an attempt to rig the polls. He said it was time the political parties joined hands to launch a vigorous campaign against the government otherwise the opposition leaders would face serious problems in future.

He said PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would arrive in Peshawar on June 19 to address legal fraternity in Peshawar High Court.
