LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said on Tuesday a new system was being introduced to issue ownership deeds of lands through commercial banks in the province.

Presiding over a high-level meeting at the CM Office, he said separate counters would be established in banks to issue ownership deeds and the step would further facilitate the people to get ownership deeds of their lands.

The Punjab government has also decided to start online issuing of ownership deeds and this system will be activated from July first.

The chief minister directed that the system of depositing revenue dues at every land record centre should be introduced and added that the project of extending the scope of the centres should be completed as soon as possible. Land record centres should be established in government buildings on a permanent basis, he added.

In a press statement, he said immediate disposal of public complaints relating to revenue matters is essential as any delay in public welfare project is painful. He said the enforcement of land utilisation policy should be ensured after its early approval and the settlement process should be completed as soon as possible in DG Khan division.

He said a transparent system of promoting farming would be introduced by giving state land on lease. The chief minister made it clear that public complaints about corruption of revenue staff are not tolerable and added that helpline/call centre should be further activated to overcome corruption in revenue department. Minister for Revenue Malik Muhammad Anwar, Chairman P&D, senior member board of revenue, secretaries of C&W and finance departments, DG Punjab Land Record Authority and others attended the meeting.

DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS: Strict monitoring of development projects will be carried out to ensure transparency and optimise utilisation of funds in the province, assures the chief minister, saying that the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, Anti-Corruption Establishment and other departments have been instructed accordingly.

The CM said: “I will keep an eye on the monitoring mechanism and any delay or leniency will not be tolerated in the development schemes, including the DG Khan Development Package.”

The chief minister also directed the officials to keep him abreast of the progress on a daily basis, adding that no compromise will be made on the quality of construction work. He said high quality of public welfare schemes would also be ensured and added that optimum utilisation of public funds could be ensured by maintaining high quality of the development schemes.

“I am the custodian of the public resources and no one will be allowed to waste the resources in the province. The CMIT, ACE and other line departments should also ensure strict monitoring of the process to complete the schemes well in time,” he added.

Meanwhile, he also expressed grief over the loss of human lives in an accident on motorway near Hafizabad and directed the administration to provide best medical facilities to the injured. He also sought a report from the administration.
