MIRPURKHAS, July 20: About 427,406 voters will elect their representatives in 41 union councils of the district, comprising six talukas. There are 12 union councils in the Mirpurkhas taluka with 122,790 registered voters. The number of non-Muslim voters is 20,697. In the Hussain Bux Mari taluka, there are three union councils with 34,611 registered voters, 10,114 of whom are non-Muslims.

The Sindhri taluka comprises six union councils where 68,666 voters are registered, including 20,501 non-Muslims.

In six union councils of the Digri taluka, registered voters are 72,041. Non-Muslim voters are 20,217.

In six union councils of the Jhuddo taluka, registered voters are 62,961, including 19,606 non-Muslims.

In the Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka’s eight union council, registered voters are 66,337, 25,794 of whom are non-Muslims.

MEETING: DCO Khurshid Naeem Malik has stressed the need for creating awareness among people of backward areas to control the growing population.

He was presiding over a meeting of the district population welfare committee on Wednesday.

The EDO, revenue, Abdul Raheem Soomro, EDO, health, Hadi Bux Laghari, officers of the district population welfare department and representatives of NGOs attended the meeting.
