Farmers’ rally

PAKPATTAN, July 19: Police baton charged farmers protesting against unscheduled loadshedding here on Monday. According to a press release, the farmers gathered outside the Wapda office to protest against power outage. They were shouting slogans when the staff of the local Wapda office allegedly pelted them with stones. The farmers also paid in the same coin. In the meantime, police came there and dispersed the protesting farmers by resorting to baton charge.

The farmers left the scene leaving their tractors on the spot. The police also arrested some farmers.

Till late on Monday night, the police were reportedly carrying out raids on Pukasidhar, Bhubhur, Nangpal, Versian and other villages for the arrest of more farmers.
