SHANGLA: The police arrested two members of a gang of auto thieves on Saturday and recovered four cars stolen from different parts of the district during Ramazan.

Addressing a press conference at his office, DPO Syed Rasool Shah said with the start of Ramazan car lifting incidents had been increased.

He said poor people parked their cabs along roads because they could not afford the garage rent, which had given a chance to the auto thieves to take the vehicles away.

He said a special team was constituted, which arrested two auto thieves identified as Bacha Zamin of Par Hoti Mardan and Sangin Khan of Odigram Swat.

He said during interrogation they confessed to the offense and disclosed the locations of the stolen cars and also the rest of the members of their gang.

The DPO said the gang members also identified the group which bought the cars from them.

He said the cars recovered from their possession were lifted from the limits of Bisham, Chakesar and Alpuri police stations. He said the police had lodged cases against the arrested car thieves. He appealed to the citizens to park their cars at safe areas.
