LAHORE: Temperatures went up to the highest levels so far this season in many cities in Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab on Friday, creating harsh weather conditions hard to bear especially for those fasting.
It was the last Friday of Ramazan and people offered their prayers in the sweltering energy-sapping heat.
According to the Met department, there was no immediate relief in sight against the scorching heat. There could be some locally generated windstorms though.
The hottest cities in the country were Jacobabad and Larkana where the maximum temperature rose to 50 degrees Celsius. They were followed by Dadu 49 degrees and Sukkur, Moenjodaro, Noorpur Thal, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar 48.
The maximum temperature of Lahore was 46 degrees, 2 degrees higher than that on Thursday, Faisalabad and Multan 45 and Sargodha 44.
The Met department forecast hot and dry weather in most parts of the country in the next 24 hours. However, dust-thunderstorm/rain is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, Peshawar, Bannu and Kashmir.
