FAISALABAD, July 18: District Coordination Officer Athar Hussain Khan has imposed a ban on religious and political gatherings, and bringing out processions for a period of 30 days. However, religious congregations and Majalis were exempted from the ban, but a prior permission by the district administration was declared a must for holding such activities.

HONOURED: Punjab Law and Parliamentary Affairs department has awarded a local lawyer a certificate of appreciation for his role as human rights activist.

Advisor to chief minister, Rana Ijaz Ahmed Khan, awarded the certificate to the lawyer, Rao Zafar Iqbal, and lauded his ‘practical suggestions’ and ‘optimum efforts for a noble cause.’

The government was ready to provide all out support to Rao Zafar for his future plans for the protection of people’s rights, the advisor added.

Two killed: Two young boys died in a road accident on Satiana Road here on Monday.

Reports said Jamshed and his friend Rizwan Ahmed were coming to the city from Awanwala when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding passenger bus on Satiana Road. The boys sustained serious head injuries and died on their way to hospital.

The bus driver fled from the scene. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
