LAHORE: The government has devised a concrete plan for currency stabilisation and the rupee is already on its way to stability, claimed Adviser to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan here on Friday.

Speaking at an Iftar dinner, where PPP leader Zikria Butt joined the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), the adviser said that the cabinet had approved a strategy and the government would now move forward on the path to stabilisation.

She further said that Adviser to the PM on Finance Hafeez Shaikh would also present another road map to recovery. Stock markets were also recovering and the situation should improve in the next few days, she claimed.

Talking about the opposition, Dr Awan said all opposition parties lacked cohesion. “Let alone other parties, even within the PML-N all leaders – Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz – have different narratives and are harping on various tones,” she claimed.

Some of the opposition leaders are trying to raise their political stature by criticising Prime Minister Imran Khan, however they were destined to fail. In Pakistan, the only politics that would survive and thrive was politics of Pakistan – national interest. Instead of politics of personalities, politics of the people will be the new rule, she added.

The adviser said some criminals, who could not prove their innocence in courts, were now hatching conspiracies against the institutions. But the PTI is standing with state institutions and would protect them come what may.

The country, under the able leadership of PM Khan, has been put on the road to progress and it will soon recover in all aspects of national life.

Welcoming Zikria Butt, Dr Awan said he had an over-30-year career in politics and was a very active member of the political fraternity. His inclusion would only benefit the party, she claimed.
