FAISALABAD: Dozens of daily-wage employees of the Faisalabad Parking Company stopped performing their duties on Thursday in protest against low wages.
Carrying placards, the FPC employees gathered outside the deputy commissioner’s office where they staged a protest demonstration, blocking the road and throwing traffic out of gear.
Talking to reporters, the protesting employees claimed their actual daily wage was Rs593 for eight-hour work, but the FPC administration had been paying them only Rs450 which was unjust and exploitative.
“Not a single officer of the company or the district administration turned up to listen to our grievance which is a matter of grave concern,” they deplored, vowing to continue the protest till acceptance of their demand.
Mehmood Ahmed, a motorist who was looking for the parking company employee at a parking lot, on knowing about the protest said the company officials must make some alternative arrangement to protect the vehicles.
