PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Press Club on Thursday launched the weeklong floodlight Ramazan sports gala where a total of 280 players were taking part in various games.

The event being organised by the PPC sports committee was formally inaugurated by Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa managing director Junaid Khan.

Sports committee chairman Kashifuddin Syed, Sports Writers Association KP president Ijaz Ahmad Khan, Peshawar Press Club general secretary Zafar Iqbal and Khyber Union of Journalists general secretary Mohammad Naeem were also present on the occasion.

Junaid Khan announced to provide snooker table, two table tennis tables, chess board and other sporting gear to the Peshawar Press Club. He inaugurated the badminton, chess, table tennis and snooker events as part of the sports festival.

He appreciated the PPC management for involving its members in healthy sports activities, including cricket, tug of war, football, swimming, etc. He also appreciated journalists for highlighting and giving exposure to the sportspersons during various tournaments held under the supervision of sports directorate.

He said that the sports directorate would extend all-out support to PPC in future as well. He said that tour programme would also be organised for the families of journalists so that they could also visit the scenic places across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Junaid Khan on this occasion announced cash prizes for the winners, runners-up and third position holders in snooker, table tennis, chess and badminton. A total of 280 players are taking part in the games and one player is eligible for one game, said sports committee chairman Kashifuddin Syed.

Earlier, the TCKP MD inaugurated the newly-installed snooker table, table tennis tables and badminton and chess facilities.
