RAWALPINDI: The district administration decided on Thursday to convert the 16 Ramazan Bazaars into Eid Bazaars for the last 10 days of Ramazan.

Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Mohammad Ali Randhawa directed the administration to sell vermicelli, milk, sugar, semolina, meat and fruit at reasonable prices in the markets for the last 10 days.

He said henna and bangle stalls will also be set up, and people will be sold essential food items so they can enjoy Eid. Mr Randhawa said the administration has been directed to monitor the open market to discourage hoarding and black marketing, and traders have been asked to facilitate the public.

Anti-profiteering drive

The district administration fined shopkeepers in various areas a total of Rs281,600 for profiteering.

The deputy commissioner said a total of 291 raids were carried out and cases were registered against four shopkeepers.
