MINGORA: The commissioner imposed ban on sale and purchase of toy guns and crackers in Malakand division on Wednesday.
Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud said that the ban was imposed for a period of one month and violators would be prosecuted under Section 188 of Pakistan Panel Code.
“Every year, before and during Eid celebrations sale of toy guns and crackers increases manifold and thousands of children can be seen brandishing toy guns, which can fire plastic bullets similar to the real guns. It causes not only injuries to people but also promotes violence among the children,” he said.
The official said that some of those guns look like real weapons that could lead children to use of real guns. All deputy commissioners of the relevant districts have been notified about the ban in their respective districts.
LAWYERS: Swat District Bar Association here on Wednesday demanded of the government to take action against the people involved in the murder of Farishta, who was abducted, murdered and allegedly raped in Islamabad.
The demand was made at an emergency meeting of the district bar that was presided over by Advocate Iftikhar. Said Karim Shilmani, Attaullah Jan, Amjad Hussain and other lawyers addressed the meeting.
“It is the responsibility of the state to bring the culprits to justice. We demand of the government to immediately arrest them and award them exemplary punishment,” they said.
They also demanded of the government to take action against the police officials, who did not file FIR initially on the plea of Farishta’s father. Through a resolution, the lawyers appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan and chief justice of Peshawar High Court to take suo moto notice of the incident.
Meanwhile, the district administration has banned entry of all kinds of heavy passenger vehicles into the old general bus stand in Mingora.
According to a statement, the general bus stand has already been shifted to the new place on Qambar bypass road. The violators of the ban have been warned of legal action.
