KHAR: The district administration has launched an operation against the roadside billboards and illegal speed breakers in Bajaur tribal district.

An official told this scribe on Sunday that the crackdown on illegal billboards and unnecessary speed breakers had been launched two days ago. He said that several teams comprising of the Levies and district administration officials had been formed to make the operation a success.

The official said that the main objective of the operation was to clear the main artery and other roads of the district of illegal billboards, signboards and speed breakers.

He said that so far scores of billboards, most of them installed by political parties, had been removed in the operation which would continue till the task was completed.

Meanwhile, people welcomed the operation against the roadside billboard and needless speed breakers in the region.

SHOP LOOTED: Unknown robbers have looted an electronics shop in Sadiqabad area of Bajaur tribal district.

Officials said on Sunday that the incident took place on Saturday night when robbers broke the locks of the electronics shop of one Rozamin Khan and took away scores of solar panels, fans, batteries and other electrical accessories.

Rozamin told mediapersons that robbers had taken away appliances worth Rs400,000. He expressed concern over the robbery at his shop in the presence of several watchmen and Levies officials at the market.

He demanded of the district administration and district police officer to investigate the incident and arrest the robbers as soon as possible.
