KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Saturday claimed to have arrested two suspects belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London and allegedly involved in targeted killings, including that of policemen.

The paramilitary force conducted intelligence-based actions in Nazimabad’s Fire Brigade and Sector 11-F of New Karachi and apprehended two suspects — Mohammed Khalid, alias Modi, and Merajuddin, alias Maju — said a Rangers spokesperson.

The official termed them “dangerous target killers”.

They were involved in killings, extortion, forcible collection of hides and fitra, shutter-downs and arson acts during strike calls given by the party.

Khalid, alias Modi, joined the MQM in 1990 and became a member of the party’s North Karachi unit and later on as sector member of the same area in 2012.

He was involved in killing of SHO of Sir Syed Town Irfan Haider and New Karachi’s senior investigation officer Shahbaz Ali.

He was also involved in bloody clashes between workers of the MQM and the ANP over laying of water pipeline in Shahnawaz Bhutto Colony of North Karachi in which four persons were killed while two Rangers personnel injured in 2008.

From 1990 to 2013, the suspect had remained involved in other heinous crimes, including extortion and arson acts for the party.

Regarding the other held suspect, Merajuddin, alias Maju, the Rangers official said that he joined the MQM in 2011 and became a member of the party’s unit in Gadap Town and later on a sector member in New Karachi.

He was involved in the killing of PML-F’s Abdullah, alias Doctor, and Akhtar Gabol. He was also involved in china-cutting of 30 plots in Ahsanabad.

From 2011 to 2013, he was involved in extortion and arson acts during strike calls given by the party and other crimes.
