MITHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders hailing from Tharparkar district on Friday resolved that nobody would be allowed to vitiate the communal harmony prevailing in the desert region.

They were speaking at an Iftar party hosted by Senator Gayanchand in Mithi on Friday.

MNA Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani told the guests that he was voted to power by followers of both majority and minority communities of Thar as he contested on a general seat of the National Assembly.

He dispelled the rumours of a threat to communal harmony in the region occasionally spread by certain elements.

Muslim and minority communities here had always been united and this had succeeded in foiling all conspiracies hatched by unscrupulous elements in the past, he added.

“Brotherly relations exist between two religious entities in Thar for centuries and we all treat everyone as a human being without any discrimination of caste, colour and creed,” he said.

He said PPP was the only party in the country that believed in equality.

Dr Malani also spoke on Sindh’s issues saying that the federal government had stopped releasing due shares of the province pushing it into a financial crisis.

He noted that the Sindh government had to stop all development activities in the province due to the situation.

“The federal government had even stopped release of funds for the drought-hit areas like Thar despite the fact that it was about to produce 660MW electricity,” he pointed out.

Senator Gayanchand appreciated the Sindh government for providing maximum possible relief to Tharis despite financial crunch. MPA Faqir Sher Mohammad Bilalani, Surendar Valasai, Susheel Malani, Dost Ali Rahimoon, Nandlal Malhi, Nawaz Baghi, Dadan Hingorjo, Dr Ghulam Haider Samejo and others also spoke.
