RAWALPINDI: The newly-appointed regional police officer (RPO) and city police officer (CPO) assumed charges on Thursday.

They were presented guard of honour when they arrived at their offices.

RPO retired Capt Ehsan Tufail has replaced Ahmad Ishaq Jehangir, who has been posted as the deputy inspector general of the Elite Force. Retired Capt Mohammad Faisal Rana has replaced Abbas Ahsan as the CPO while Mr Ahsan has been posted as commandant at the Sihala Police College.

The RPO is a BPS-21 while the CPO is BPS-20 post. However, both the new officers are serving in BPS-20.

The former RPO and CPO had taken some steps to improve police performance, vacate police residences occupied by senior officers who were posted out of the district and officially declare police officers who died on duty ‘martyrs.’
