SHANGLA: A man shot dead his wife, young daughter and a close relative on suspicion that they had illicit relations in Makhozi tehsil of Shangla district here on Wednesday morning.

Shangla district police officer Syed Rasool Shah, who personally visited the spot after the incident occurred in Shekolai area, told Dawn that it was an honour killing.

He said that after receiving the information a police team reached the crime scene and found two women aged 36 and 17, the wife and daughter, respectively, of the accused, and a man aged 39, lying in a pool of blood in the house.

He said the police took the bodies of both the women and that of the man to a nearby basic health unit in Chawga area. He said that according to the local people the man was close relative of the family.

He said that the doctors conducted postmortem on the bodies which were later handed over to their relatives.

The DPO said the murderer suspected that his wife and daughter had developed illicit relations with the man.

The police lodged FIR of the case under section 302 of the Pakistan Panel Code and started further investigations.

“We have registered a case against the accused and raids are being conducted to arrest him because he fled along with the weapon used in the triple murder,” the DPO added.

According to locals, the accused was working in Karachi where an unknown person had called him and told him about the alleged relation of his wife and daughter with the male victim of the shooting.

They said the accused had returned from Karachi a month ago.
