MANSEHRA: The police arrested a man here for allegedly raping a girl and said raids were being made to arrest two other suspects.

“Ali Asghar allegedly kidnapped a girl from Datta area with the help of two others five days ago and repeatedly raped her before abandoning her near her house,” district police officer Zaibullah Khan told reporters here on Monday.

The girl’s examination at the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital confirmed the rape.

The DPO said the girl named the rape suspects before a local court.

He said the arrested suspect’s accomplices would be held soon.

SEALED: The district food department sealed a jam factory in Chikriali area here on Monday.

“We have arrested Mohammad Ahteshamul Haq and Mohammad Ilyas for preparing fruit jam before illegally filling it in the bottles of famous brands,” assistant food controller Mohammad Shaukat told reporters.

He said the food department along with the police raided the factory and seized a large quantity of rotten tomatoes and other fruits.

“Samples collected from the factory have been dispatched to a Peshawar lab for further analysis,” he said.
