Rain claims 3 lives

PESHAWAR, July 16: Due to heavy rains, roofs of two houses in villages Daudzai and Rustam collapsed whereby three persons died and four got injured, relief department officials said here on Saturday. The NWFP chief secretary and provincial relief commissioner visited flood-hit areas in district Karak and distributed food items among the people.

The rains have damaged property and caused loss of life in Rustam village of district Mardan and Daudzai in district Peshawar, according to flood report issued here on Saturday.

The torrential rain in district Charsadda has raised water level in River Gindi and damaged the crops and few Kacha houses along the river bank, the report said.

A 14-year-old boy, Ijaz son of Abdul Ghaffar, drowned in Kabul River near Nowshera Kalan.

The villages Sheikhabad, Hasanabad, Mana Khel and Sala Khel are still submerged, the provincial relief department said.
