KARACHI: Landhi Kidney Centre

Published July 17, 2005

KARACHI, July 16: The Federal Cabinet has decided to hand over 50-beded Kidney Centre Hospital located in Landhi to the Sindh government. The Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (Sessi) will take over the hospital and run it. Recurring expenses for initial two years will be met by Workers Welfare Fund, Islamabad, while the expenses later would be born by the Sindh government. The federal cabinet also decided to constitute a high-powered board of governors, having equal representation from public and private sector.

It further stated that this practice would be replicated in NWFP and Balochistan, as well, if succeeded in Karachi. The Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport, Industries and Commerce Mohammad Adil Siddiqui, welcoming the decision, has assured his full cooperation to activate the centre.

He directed the Sessi Commissioner to take steps for the activation of the centre in Landhi.—PPI
