Army, KRL grab full points

RAWALPINDI, July 15: Pakistan Army and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) gained maximum points after scoring an identical 1-0 victory over Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Navy on the opening day of the national football Challenge Cup on Friday,

After a a scoreless first half, Shabbir grabbed the match winner for Pakistan Army in the 74th minute at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi.

In another match at Faisalabad, KRL edged out Pakistan Navy 1-0 with Allah Nawaz scoring the all-important goal in the 17th minute of the first half.

The tournament is being played simultaneously at Rawalpindi and Faisalabad under the aegis of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).

In Saturday’s programme, Karachi’s KPT will take on National Bank of Pakistan at Army Stadium in Rawalpindi while Wapda will face Police at Faisalabad.—Agencies
