SHEIKHUPURA, July 15: Two proclaimed offenders were killed on Friday in an encounter with Barahghar police near Chak 3, some 75kms from here in the jurisdiction of Nankana district. According to reports, police received an information that some seven POs were taking shelter in a hideout in the village. A police party reached there and besieged the area. Seeing police, the outlaws opened fire on them. The police also returned the fire, killing two POs Ashraf alias Kamla and Shahbaz on the spot. While their five accomplices managed to escape from the scene. Thedead outlaws were wanted to police in several cases of heinous nature.

Nankana’s district police officers have announced cash prizes and commendations certificates for the raiding party.

Two killed: Two passengers were killed while 17 others injured, two of them serious, in an accident near Salimkot on Lahore Road, some six kilometres from here.

Those dead were identified as, Umer Hayat of Layyah, Zafar Shahd of Kot Abdul Malik. The injured were shifted to the local DHQ Hospital. Sadar police are looking into the matter.
