KARACHI, July 14: Shoaib Lodhi, an upcoming slow left-armer, produced a match-winning performance to help Zone-VI clinch the PCB Karachi region Under-19 Inter-district Cricket Championship on Thursday.

Shoaib snared six for 70 in 23.4 overs as Zone-II, the dethroned champions, were bowled out for 192 while chasing a target of 269 at the TMC Ground. Zone-VI, who won the final match by 76 runs, topped the standings with a tally of 22 points.

Barring Farhan Rafiq, who made a dogged 70 with seven boundaries, none of the Zone-II batsmen batted with confidence against Shoaib.

Off-spinner Razaul Hasan took five for 49 in 28 overs but his heroics failed to prevent Zone-III scoring a three-wicket victory over Zone-VII at the Asifabad Sports Ground.

Zone-III’s batting star was Shan Masood who converted his overnight 55 into 94. Shan’s 165-ball innings contained a dozen boundaries as Zone-III reached 239 for seven in the 77th over.

In the remaining match, Zone-V completed a five-wicket win against Zone-IV at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground with skipper Wasim Hanif remaining undefeated with 69.
