PESHAWAR: Sarhard Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) president Faiz Mohammad Faizi has assured that the chamber will extend full cooperation to international organisations and government institutions for sustainable economic growth, prosperity and development of the country.
Speaking at a seminar titled ‘Sustainable investment and development’ jointly organised by German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and SCCI at a local hotel on Thursday, he said that public and private sectors should make planning and formulate policies jointly for sustainable economic development and prosperity.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister Abdul Karim Khan, Industries Secretary Amir Latif, SCCI senior vice president Eng Saad Khan Zahid, vice president Harif Mufti, former president Zahidullah Shinwari, IM Sciences Director Dr Mohsin Khan, Dr Maqbool, Gul Badshah and government officials attended the seminar.
The SCCI chief said that owing to gap between government and private organisations, the government policies and projects could not achieve desirable objectives. He appreciated GIZ for its support in arranging the session and said that it would be essential to take full benefit from such forum.
He suggested that government and private institutions should sit together and jointly frame such policies that could be proved fruitful and supportive.
Mr Faizi recalled that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had adversely suffered in term of financial and human losses due to terrorism. He added that the region hosted Afghan refugees. He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was bestowed with huge potentials. “If these are utilised effectively, then we can make progress,” he added.
Other leaders of the chamber including Zahidullah Shinwari, Eng Saad Khan and Haris Mufti while speaking on the occasion thanked the GIZ and government institutions for taking such good initiative. They stressed the need for joint working for development and prosperity in future.
