RAWALPINDI: Five police officials and 10 others have been booked for forcibly entering a home and stealing cash, gold jewellery, mobile phones and other valuables in the Imambara Mohallah.

Police said on Thursday that Islamabad resident Saima Abbas registered a complaint with Banni police that she was at her parents’ house in Imambara Mohallah on Feb 2 at around 11:30pm when four or five people in police uniforms along with some others forced their way into the house.

She said her mother, brother and children were also present. Upon entering, she said, the group misbehaved with the women and searched room by room. When they were asked who they were, Ms Abbas said the group replied that they were from the Banni police.

She said the intruders broke a cupboard, stole 10 tolas of gold ornaments, prize bonds valuing Rs250,000, cash and a Rs25,000 mobile phone.

She said they also picked up her brother Yasir and alleged that he was tortured at the police station and implicated in a fake case. She said the actions were carried out on directives of an SHO who was involved in a political rivalry with her brother-in-law. She also said her brother-in-law had identified some of the men who entered her parents’ house by name.

Ms Abbas prayed for a court that despite repeated attempts to lodge an FIR, her efforts had proved unproductive due to the involvement of the SHO. The case was registered on April 24 on directives of a Rawalpindi additional sessions judge.
